Adoption update

In June, a trial was held to determine the fate of the two children whom we had been caring for in our home. DHS and the states attorney recommended the termination of parental rights. Several months later the court affirmed their opinion and ordered the termination. The next step in the process was for the parents to appeal to the appellate court who had 90 days to make a decision. The appellate court issues opinions every two weeks so we have been watching on line, looking for our case. In December the dads termination was affirmed but we had no sign of a decision on the mom's appeal. When a decision had still not been issued this month we decided to call the states attorney and find out where things stood. Come to find out the mother had filed a notice to appeal but had not filed an actual appeal therefor the termination was complete. The legal review called a precido was already done and there were no other legal issues that needed to be resolved. The kids are legally ours as soon as we are able to sign the papers. You will know as soon as this happens because I will be free to post pictures of these most adorable little ones!
