Outside my window there is a fresh dusting of snow. According to the news last night, we are over an inch ahead of our snow fall from last year. The sun is shining but it is cold!
I am thinking about how the first official act of our new government was to allocate millions of dollars in funds for the continued infanticide of the next generation. What does it say about the PEOPLE of this country and their prioritise! We are in a financial crisis but funding mass genocides is a priority. Even if you did not believe life to be sacred, why is no one questioning the wisdom of this funding allocation?
I am thankful that our children are continuing to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of GOD, who is the beginning of all wisdom.
From the learning room; We are very excited to have received our 4H project pamphlets this past week. We ordered a couple for each child so that they could review them and determine which one they wanted to explore first. DMD picked sewing, photography, and rabbit. DYS ordered Measuring Up and Robotics Explorer.
From the kitchen; My menu week begins on Tuesdays because that is the day I get groceries.
T- the kids choose (usually frozen pizza or hot pockets) DH and I eat dinner out this week.
W-DH and DMD are gone for dinner. DYS and I usually eat left overs or mac n cheese.
Th-baked potato bar with all the fixings
Fr-homemade pizza
St-grilling hamburgers
Su- roasted chicken
M- Small group dinner at another couples house
I always serve a romaine salad tossed with fresh grated broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. We are not so big on cooked vegetables in this family. It is easier in the summer when we pull green beans or peas from the garden. We also have an ongoing weekly goal at the farmers market to buy and try something new. The other problem is that we had a really relaxed December and the busyness of January had been a shock to the system. In the next seven days we not all eating together as a family meal four days. That is not our ideal schedule.
I am wearing comfy casual today, gray yoga pants and fleece pull over.
I am creating a plan for my daughters household organizer. I have started with the kitchen, so once I have the plan completely outlined I will post it.
I am going nowhere because everyone is coming to me! I babysat for a friends darlings this morning early, my nieces are here for the day, the 4H meeting is at our house, and our small group is meeting here tonight.
I am reading or rather just finished reading Mila 18 by Leon Uris. I love his work and this was no exception. I crawled under a blanket yesterday after church and read until I finished it at 9:30 P.M.! I did have to multi task between eight and nine thirty because of the hallmark movie that was on.
I am praying earnestly that God will work in me on my attitude in several areas! I definitely feel as though I need an attitude adjustment in a couple key areas!
I am hearing my son practice his piano. It sounds so good I can hardly believe that he has just started playing last fall.
Around the house I am still trying to gather all the ingredients for that furniture polish. I love the adding vinegar to my rinse water. I can already tell a difference! My husband is working on finishing the foyer to our oldest daughters room. This is resulting in a little bit of dry wall dust to keep cleaned up! One of my birds got sick last week. We are keeping her under warming lights and have her on an antibiotics. She seems to be doing well but it is very hard to tell. With animals like this they are often very ill before exhibiting any symptoms. We also need to get our apple trees pruned this next weekend. I have advertised our baby hamsters on several homeschooling sites but no nibbles so far. I might have to add them to Craig's list.
One of my favorite things is my husbands blue jogging suite! It is big and very warm and always my go to for those days when I am cold, bloated, and just want to be comfortable!
A few plans for the rest of the week iinclude the 4H meeting, swimming on Thursday, small group, the pastoral team dinner, normal children's activities and a lot of school work! We are in crunch time for us. Our family travels extensively in April so our school year runs primarily the first Monday in August (Last Monday in July) through the end of March. Last year we took the entire summer off except for required free reading. I am trying to decide if I will do that again this year?
