Simple Woman's Day Book

Tuesday April 7, 2009
Outside My window the sun has gone down. In the last 24 hours I have seen almost every conceivable weather pattern possible! We left Columbus Ohio yesterday morning and drove the twelve hours straight home. There was tornado watches when we left Ohio. We passed through rain, snow, heavy sleet, sun, and varying temperatures as we passed each front.
I am thinking about Jeremiah 29 Vs 4 -7. As I have been listening to the news and all the things that are happening right now in our state I have wondered what my grandchildren's world will look like. Will my children be able to teach their children in their homes or will they loose that right because they are Christian and their beliefs are not "tolerant". I question if I even want grandchildren born into this world, while praying my children will have full quivers. Yet God said, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon; Build ye houses, and dwell [in them]; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
I am thankful to be home! To sleep in my own bed! To eat food that I cooked!
From the learning room; God sent an encouragement to me this past week in the form of many different people. The first couple were in a booth next to ours at a trade show. They were able to over hear, interact, and witness our lives ten hours a day for four days. We were up close and personal. Over the course of the four days they made many comments to me directly about the children. They marveled at how disciplined they were about their school work. The mom asked if they ever fought while commenting on how well they treated each other and got along. This was the first year we had let the children attend some events on their own. They took a cell phone and kept in touch with us via text messaging. The couple could not believe how diligent they were with this. We never wondered or worried about where they were. The kids help run the cash register and deal with customers, doing good work. Another person, also a vendor at the trade show identified my family as Christians when Mr. and the kids entered his booth at the show. He commented on how beautiful our daughter was, even calling her righteous because of her dress and demeanor. He guessed that we home schooled. The company representatives that we work with during the show made many comments as well. I learned that people are watching and noticing! We really do look different from the world and people really can see Christ in our actions! This was an incrediable encouragement to me!
The kids did not do any formal school work while we were driving but worked on basic subjects all four days we were at the show. I have lots of papers to grade!
From the kitchen;
T- grilled steak! rice, romaine salad with broccoli, cauliflower, walnuts. This tasted so incredible after a week of restaurant food!
W- small group night
Thursday - Cesar salads. When Mr. grilled the steaks tonight he also grilled the chicken. I shredded extra romaine so all we have to do on tonight is throw the ingredients together and toss!
Friday - home made pizza
Saturday - DOD has requested a roast and potato meal! However, she is on the phone with me know telling me she has tickets to go to a concert and won't be here. Hmmm.
Sun - Dinner at my parents
M- small group fellowship night
I am wearing - a navy skirt with baby blue flowers, a baby blue t shirt and a denim jacket
We are going - I went to the grocery store today! There was nothing left in the house!
I am reading - a book called Israel My Beloved by Kay Arthur. I had a hard time getting into the book. It was an interesting history of the Jewish people but not my thing. I may not even finish it.
I am praying - for the times we are in and begging God to lead our family in preparing us to give an answer for the hope that we have!
I am hearing - the washer and dryer. I have a lot of laundry to get through!
Around the house - what a mess!
A few plans for the rest of the week - I will be helping the Mr. out at his store the rest of the week. Our DOD is coming home for Easter on Thursday and will stay through Monday. YEH! Friday night we will go to Good Friday service and then Easter service on Sunday morning. My mom is fixing Easter dinner for us after church. Mr. and DYS have their first softball practice this week. DMD and I have embroidery class on Thursday.
One of my favorite things - my bed! I am so tired.
