Simple Woman's Daybook

Monday March 30, 2009
Outside my window it is a beautiful sunny, yet cold day. High today only expected to be 37 degrees.
I am thinking about all my family and friends who I will not be able to see for the next month!
I am thankful for all of the tools at our disposal that make staying in touch with everyone so much easier. My cell phone has national coverage so I can make and receive phone calls without worrying about a big bill. Everywhere I go has Internet access and I have a lap top. I can't imagine being a pioneer family and leaving your home to NEVER see or hear from loved ones again.
From the learning room; One of the benefits to our home education is that it travels well. The traveling itself becomes a school lesson. Some of our favorite games come from www.momsminivan.com. Our favorite is the fifty states licence plate game. We add a blank outline map to it so the kids are checking off the state on their list and then finding it on their map as we go. We also have books on cd. For this trip we are listening to A History of England by Charles Dickens and History CD's from Donna Warring.
From the kitchen; The kitchen is closed. The next month will bring restaurant after restaurant. Mr. enjoys this part of traveling as he likes to eat out but I really dislike eating in restaurants. I think they are dirty and even the nicest establishments are questionable to me!
I am wearing a long grey cotton skirt, white t' and black fleece zip up. Definite comfy travel clothes!
We are going first to Columbus Ohio and then backtracking to Madison Wisconsin.
I am reading nothing at the moment however, the Iowa Right to Life book sale was last week and I picked up several Christian fiction books for the car.
I am praying for my bestest friend who has her birthday today. For my girls who are still recovering from Strep throat. For our travels and our business.
I am hearing the last load of clothes in the dryer. The doors opening and closing as all of our stuff gets packed into the car.
Around the house; Everything is shut off, unplugged and cancelled. The refrigerator has been cleaned out, all the trash removed. The animals are all gathered in one room to make feeding the menagerie easier for our pet sitter.
A few plans for the rest of the week; Loading up and heading out today. We should hit Indianapolis tonight. That puts us in Ohio on Tuesday. We set up for the Equine Affair on Wed. and the show runs Thursday through Sunday. We turn around and head home on Monday.
One of my favorite things; daily calenders where you flip the page over and there is an encouraging saying or scripture verse. I like the routine of turning the page each day.
