Simple Womans Daybook

Monday March 16, 2009

Outside my window it is looking a lot like spring! It was a beautiful weekend although I did not get anything done outside. My DYS spent most of the weekend outside creating various Shields and weapons out of scrap wood inspired by his watching of all three Lord of The Rings movies over the weekend.

I am thinking all of the things that I need to do in the next two weeks!

I am thankful for our pastor! He has such a humble heart for Christ. His sermons always take me deeper into the word and provide plenty of food for thought during the week. It is a blessing to hear him preach each week.

From the learning room; We spent the weekend watching all three Lord of The Ring movies. I only made it through the first one by grading papers and avoiding all eye contact with the screen. I enjoyed the music and the sound of the movie but it was way to graphic for me to enjoy. I did not even attempt to watch the other two but the family hung in there and enjoyed all of them. My DOD was mad that I let her siblings watch this without reading the books because I had made her read them before she could watch them. The books were on our reading list for this year but so were fifty other books. We just ran out of time and the movies seemed a good substitute.

From the kitchen;

t- dinner out with friends

w - beef stew to take to Mr. and DMD's small group

th-grilling hamburgers

fr- homemade pizza

sat - fried chicken

sun - left overs (lunch at Godfathers for our nephews birthday)

m -

I am wearing a light weight blue cotton skirt and a lighter blue t-shirt. I also have on my running shoes!

I am going to co-op and then to small group fellowship which is being held at a friends home.

I am reading; I am starting a new Beth Moore study called Stepping Up - The Psalms of Ascent. I am very excited to get started on this.

I am praying for our friends who are leaving for China. For my sister family and other friends who are searching for work due to layoffs and finances. For my DOD who is feeling the strain and stress of finishing well during her last semester at school.

I am hearing the children through the bathroom window. They are outside playing on the play set.

Around the house my husband continued working on the staircase. My DYS got all of the gravel scraped out of the yard back into the driveway. He tried to get the new compost started but the frost is not out of the ground yet.

A few plans for the rest of the week; I need to get out to the dairy this week and pick up some milk and eggs. I joined the Azure food co-op this month. My order should be in for pick up at the drop sight on Wed. Our friends leave for China tomorrow morning to pick up their new daughter! We have embroidery class on Thursday. I am also going to have to put in some time at our store this week.

One of my favorite things: a good salad! I love chicken Caesar salad, I also love a mixed veggie salad, romaine broccoli, cauliflower carrots. My absolute favorite salad is romaine, grape halves, freshly grate Parmesan and walnuts.
