Spiderwick Chronicles Review
Our family made its yearly trek to Wichita Kansas last week and took in our annual movie. (We do not drive all the way to Wichita to watch a movie. We are there for a horse show but we have one evening that is always free.) It is a much looked forward to and much discussed event. There were several movies that we had heard were coming out but we were really not sure what was playing in the theaters. We were hoping for Prince Caspian but have since discovered that is no coming out until May. The children had also expressed some interest in Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. The only PG movie showing was the Spiderwick Chronicles. Not our normal movie fare, we all decided to go ahead and watch it. I had previously read a review so I was not concerned about the content. For great reviews I highly recommend www.pluggedinonline.com. It is very thorough and things are looked at from a moral or spiritual perspective. There are also reviews for television, music, and games.
I am not sure what I enjoyed watching more, the movie or our 13 year old daughter. She was on the edge of her seat right from the start. So caught up in the movie I think she drank our entire shared drink and ate most of the popcorn without even realizing that she had taken a drink or eaten a bite. I have teased her terribly about that!
The movie went quickly, was fast paced and exciting. The ending was great and all together it was an enjoyable experience. I don't think I would take young children to it but it seemed about right for our children's ages.
