More on Traditions

I found the following quotes and they fit my last post on tradition so well I had to share them.

"The church does not superistitiously observe days merely as days, but as memorials of important facts. Christmas might be kept as well upon one day of the year as another; but there should be a stated day for commemorating the birthday of our savior, because there is a danger that what may be done on any day will be neglected." Samuel Johnson

"As the earth cycles annually through its seasons, just so we celebrate with quiet, deliberate rhythm the seasons of the liturgical year – always the same, yet ever new and renewing." The Litergical Year.
