I am thinking about the ironies of life. One of which is that now, when I feel as though I finally understand parenting, when I finally get how important it is to be a mom. My mothering years are almost over.
On a less depressing note the etiquette tip of the day was that one should always stay to the right of hallways and might I add GROCERY STORE aisles!
I am thankful for the testimony of God in the lives of friends. It is such an encouragement to hear!
Fr0m the learning room; We have finished the first three chapters of The Hobbit and have begun to do the exercises in the Progeny Press book study. My goal for the end of this year is writing, writing, and more writing. Technically, we have less than 30 days of school left. The reality is probably double that to finish up all the text books. I am teaching a unit on simple machines at coop. We will be making ruler scales and measuring the effectiveness of incline planes as well as making dump trucks that operate on balloon power. Should be fun if we can get everything to work! I had an experiment fail last week. I really hate it when that happens!
From the kitchen; I made my first batch of 5 minute artisan bread last week. It was amazing! I will post the recipe and pictures later.

I am wearing a black skirt and black turtleneck sweater. This is really not a reflection on my mood!
I am going to coop of course. After all, it is Monday.
I am reading Wild Things the art of nurturing boys by Stephen James and David Thomas.
I am praying for our dear friends who will be heading to China in less than two weeks to pick up their new daughter!
I am hearing a news report announcing that President Obama has signed an order repealing the ban on stem cell research allowing any babies killed after 2001 to be used for experiment. The quote from a scientist said that "finally science logic and data will be followed instead of politics." I can't help but wonder how all of the "Christians" who voted for him because he was black feel about the slaughter of babies for science. How different is this from what Hitler did?
Around the house; Mr. is still working on the stairs going up to DOD's room. That area is looking beautiful. Almost all of the wood is on the stairs. Then we can stain and paint. We still need to install a door and carpet the rest of the way up the stairs. Once we finish this we can start looking at shelving and other ideas for making her room more livable for her needs.
A few plans for the rest of the week; Emily and I have our second embroidery class this week. It turned out that the only ones who signed up for this class were us. We were outnumbered by the instructors who are all extremely kind, generous and gracious older woman. I feel bad that they have gone through the amount of work that they have for just the three of us. I am dying to get out into the yard to start cleaning up the winter mess.
One of my favorite things; The Seeds of Change company. Their seeds are 100 percent organic and they offer many varieties of heirloom and rare plants.
