Simple Womans Day Book

Monday March. 3, 2009 Simple Woman's Day book

Outside my window the temperatures are climbing. We had a small snow fall over the weekend but it amounted to less than an inch and melted away by mid afternoon. The weather man said last night the nice thing about our weather is that if you wait five minutes it will change!

I am thinking about my poor canary Garbo who was found deceased at the bottom of his cage Sunday morning. He was the healthy one of our two canaries. Greta is still on antibiotics.
I am thankful for a full nights sleep, completely uninterrupted! I did not even wake up to go the bathroom! Its been months since that has happened.

From The Learning Room; we are on our third draft of our research reports. We have begun our study of the middle ages using the Famous Men of the Middle Ages. We also began reading The Hobbit. At the beginning of the year we went and saw the play at the children's theater, which was wonderful. I think that I have decided on an American History Curriculum for next year called Exploring America. http://www.notgrass.com/homeschool-curriculum-resources.php

From the kitchen; I am struggling to come up with menus the past couple of weeks. I am tired of winter and ready for spring and summer foods. BBQ and salads!

T - spaghetti and meatballs

W - out

Th - crock pot bbq beef sandwiches

Fr - pizza's

Sat - quesidillias

Sun - left overs

M- cheese soup with artisian bread

I am wearing a grey skirt and a black t shirt with my tennis shoes. Planning on being on my feet all day although I love cute little shoes, my feet are protesting them on a regular basis!

I am going to our coop.

I am reading; I am not currently reading anything for pleasure. A friend is going to loan me a book on raising boys that I am anxious to get started with.

I am praying: for our coop today, so many prayers for each of the families, for the children who will be coming to learn, and for the atmosphere of the day. That is would be one of unity and cooperation!

I am hearing; the shower running, the piano being practised and Sid the Science Guy on the TV.

Around the house I adjusted the placement of some of our pictures. I took the three children's pictures out of the dining room and used them to fill in the picture shelf above the couch. It was looking sparse. This then gave me room to have a less cluttered space on the bookshelf in the dining room. For our anniversary Mr. had given a digital photo frame. I am still needing to take some pictures to load onto that.

A few plans for the rest of the week; DMD and I are starting an embroidery class this week. The class will last six weeks. We are really looking forward to this. I am able to do basic cross stitch patterns but nothing fancy so I am hoping to learn some fun new techniques. This has been a hobby I always enjoy but don't make a lot of time for.

One of my favorite things: is my Christmas cactus. It is was my grandmothers and has bloomed every year at Christmas (Usually Nov. through January ) since I got it. This is year it did not bloom on schedule. But, just this last month it started to show blooms. This is year it has decided to be a Easter cactus!
