When we first purchased our home 15 years ago our mortgage payment was $450.00 a month. Our fixed mortgage payment has not changed but with all of the additional taxes we pay our payment is now $300.00 a month more! Keep in mind that the original payment included taxes! We can afford our house but how long will it be before we can't afford the taxes on our house?
I do not want potentially toxic light bulbs in my home. For more information on what you have to do if you break one in your home check out this government web sight!
http://www.epa.gov/mercury/spills/ I guess we will go back to hurricane lanterns for lighting in our house!
I want chickens. I should not be prevented from providing healthy foods at a reasonable cost to my family simply because I live in a town. Our city has an ordinance that prohibits "livestock" in town. The irony of a small Midwestern farming community being unable to have chickens while larger cities all around allow them is irritating. I stopped up to see what the process was to have the ordnance changed and was told to not even try because they were not going to change it. Hello! Am I not still a taxpayer who pays outrageous taxes and I have no say!
I should not be prevented from producing items in my home and on my property that are for sale. Our current city regulation prevents me from selling anything I grow on my property. For instance when we trim our grape vines, I can not offer those vines for sale, or make them into wreaths and sell them. Isn't it interesting that the traditional concept of a woman earning pocket money for her family from her home is now prevented by the government.
Bill Salier said that it would be easy for us to go back and create our government the way it used to be because we have already done it once. The hard work has already done. That would be true if we were living in an educated society. An educated society can recreate itself because it knows the intents, purposes and original documentations of its founders. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. Government schools are not in the education business to create an educated society. They are producing illiterate people, lazy thinkers who are only susceptible to the media propaganda and can not think for themselves. Then we let them vote!
People who think they are the exception. They rationalize and make all kinds of excuses for what they do but it really boils down to a narcissistic view of themselves and a little hypocrisy. Everyone else should of course follow the rules except them. Their special.
Making rules and policies based on the lowest common denominator. This one really peals the paint off of my barn! Society fails to punish or enforce existing rules and then the people who follow the rules must suffer under new rules or financial disincentives to discourage a behavior. Here in our town there are two horse acreages within the city limits. Teen children were trespassing onto the properties and several times let the horses loose. The police then spent hours and thousands of dollars of tax money catching the horses. They did not punish the trespasser's for trespassing onto private property or for endangering the animals. Instead they created a new ordinance that does not allow anyone to have horses. Another recent example includes our state home school conference. They have always regulated the age of attending children and I have always honored and respected their right to do so. But, because others have not, they decided to raise the price to make it difficult for children to attend.. It will cost us an additional $40.00 just to arrive at the conference. It is also $40.00 that we will not be spending with vendors.
Its not an exhaustive list but I feel better!
