Simple Woman's Day Book

Monday February 16, 2009 Simple Woman's Day book
Outside my window the sun has gone down. It is a clear night but I can not see the moon.
I am thinking about the prophet Amos who said, if two are not of one mind how can they walk together.
I am thankful for so many things today! My husband had a doctors appointment and I am thankful that I liked the doctor and that the doctor did not feel like we have anything to be concerned about! We still have to go back for another recheck in 8 weeks so we will keep praying!
From the learning room; I am still working on making some curriculum decisions for next year. Everything is settled except for history and I am really having a struggle in this area. I want a Christian curriculum that does more than sprinkle God words into the vocabulary. I want it to present history from God's perspective.
From the kitchen;
t - turkey hoagies, fruit salad
w - dinner out
th -waffles and eggs
fr -home made pizza
st - chicken penne
sn-left overs
m- beef fajita skillet
I am wearing my pj's and am all snuggled into my bed. I wore my favorite plaid skirt and ivory sweater today.
I am creating a devotional Lenten activity for our family to do starting on ash Wednesday. It is very similar to the one we do for Christmas. There will be a banner with a cross and then forty pictures that will attached to the banner each day through lent. Each picture represents a bible passage that will be read during out morning devotional.
I am going nowhere now! It was an exhausting day. We had my husbands doctors appointment first thing, then a full afternoon at coop, finished up with 4 H training meeting.
I am reading The Real Lincoln. What an interesting book. I have not gotten past the first chapter yet and already several ideas presented have completely stunned me. The concept that blacks were given rights in the south after the war, during reconstruction, that blacks in the north did not have. That Lincoln had signed a Geneva treaty protecting the rights of woman and children in war and yet gave Sherman full rein to rape, pillage, and burn his way through the south. I was also taken aback by the level of blatant disregard for the Constitution.
I am praying for my husbands health and continued recovery from a recent infection.
I am hearing my husband praying with our children as they get ready for bed. I love that he does the night time duty! The TV is on and I am watching True Beauty. Not the most redeemable TV show but we were sucked in from week one.
Around the house we are working on our oldest daughters room, trying to update the space for her move home in May. Mr. is working on installing a door, railings, new window, and a ton of shelving as well as finish the flooring on the stairs and restructure her closet space so it will be more functional.
One of my favorite things is having fresh flowers in the house. This bouquet was a valentines gift from Mr.

A few plans for the rest of the week; We are really going to have to buckle down this week and get lots of school work done. The kids had spent the better part of last week at a beef expo so we have lots of catch up to do on our school work. No outside activities.
