This has been a full week and I feel a need to brag on my children. Daughter #1 has graduated from high school and is on her way to college. Could not be prouder of her. Daughter #2 and son are old enough to be left at home alone for short amount of times but I was hesitant to do it despite their assurances that they could handle it and that they felt comfortable with it. I finally decided on a trial run leaving them with instructions on what work I expect to be done while I am gone. After one week, not only have they done their work and done it well, I came home one day and they had finished their work early and cleaned the whole house.
Then today when we arrived home I was approached by a neighbor lady about a situation that had occurred the day before. They had been trying to get ahold of us all day but we were gone. I mistakingly thought that my son had done something wrong only to find out that my 9 year old son had stood between her children and a boy with a knife. They were very thankful that Zach defended their children but wanted me to talk to him about not doing something like that again. As scary as it is though he did exactly the right thing. He stood between someone stronger and someone weaker and defended the weak. If he can do that at 9 I am really excited to see what he will accomplish at 20.
